God’s LAW is like HIM

God’s LAW is like HIM

If you Love God you will love His Law. If you hate the Law, you also hate God because they are in character the same. There are many examples of this. We have seen several already. Ponder some more.

The Law is Righteous, Light and Pure. Rom. 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Ps. 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness. Prov. 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: Ps. 19:8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

God is Righteous. Dan. 9:14 Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.

God is Light. 1Jn. 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

God is Pure. 1Jn. 3:2-3 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

The Law is Great and Unchanging. Hos. 8:12 I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing. Matt. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

God is Great. Job 36:26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.

God is Unchanging. Mal. 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
The Law is Faithful and Wisdom. Ps. 119:86 All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me. Ps. 119:98 Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. Ps.111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

God is Faithful. 1Cor. 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

God is Wisdom. Rom. 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

The Law brings Peace. Ps. 119:165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

God brings Peace. Phil. 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Conclusion: Some say the cross of Christ abolished the Law but that is not what Jesus said. Look in Matt. 5:17-20. The Law was given as a school master to lead us to Christ. Gal. 3:24. It is true that the Law kills and condemns. It is also true that when we confess that we are transgressors or lawbreakers, we are candidates for receiving the grace of God in Christ. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

God’s Law

God’s Law

Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

The Law of God can sometimes be a controversial subject. Naturally the unsaved do not care to hear about it. We do not like to be condemned and when faced with God’s Law we all fall short. Romans 3:23. There are times when even those who name the name of Christ are uneasy about the preaching of the Law. Some even try to tell us that there is no need for the preaching of the Law anymore. These folks are what theologians call anti-nomians. The Bible tells us that the Law is holy, just and good. Certainly it is because God is the author of it and therefore it has the same traits and characteristics as it’s Author.

We want to do a study to rightly divide the word on the subject of the Law. In the light of scripture, we want to understand the eternality of the moral law, the fulfillment of the ceremonial law and our responsibility to live by the civil law as it is consistent with God’s word. But before we get into that let us think for a few moments about how similar the Law is to it’s Author.

The Law is holy, just and good. Text. Also 1Tim. 1:8. But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; 9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; 11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

God is Holy. Josh. 24:19. And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.

God is Just. Rom. 3:26. To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

God is Good. Ps. 73:1. Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.

The Law is Perfect and True. Ps. 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. Ps. 119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth. Neh. 9:13 Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments:

God is Perfect. Ps. 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

God is True. Jn. 3:33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.

The Law is Love and Spirit. 1Tim. 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: Rom. 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Rom. 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
God is Love. 1Jn. 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
God is Spirit. Jn. 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

More to come…

You might think you can but you can’t. I don’t like to be told that. How about you? But, a lot of the times, it’s true. There is coming a day when we are going to stand before God to be judged. We may not like to think about it but it is coming, like it or not. What a lot of folks will try and say at that time is, “Nobody ever told ME the truth about God and nobody tried to help me regarding spiritual things.”

Dear reader, you now looking at positive proof that someone did indeed care enough about your soul to try and give you a better answer to God in the Day of Judgment. The Psalmist said in Psalms 142:4 “…no man cared for my soul.” Maybe there is someone somewhere that can truthfully say that but YOU CAN”T. Now, you might disregard what is said here and not look any further and that is your personal freedom to do so, if it pleases you for the moment, but remember – you can’t say nobody tried to tell you the truth and warn you to be ready when you stand before God.

As a matter of fact, there are a lot of things that you can’t do. Physically speaking, you cannot, by you own strength alone, pull yourself up by your own bootstraps. The same thing is true when we talk about spiritual things. When it comes to spiritual things and our personal relationship to God, we all have the problem of depravity in our human nature that we inherited from our parents. Since the fall of Adam in the Garden of Eden, every human being, except for one, has been born with a sinful nature and is dead toward God regarding spiritual things. The only exception to that – is none other than the virgin born Saviour, Jesus Christ our Lord.

That being the case, you can’t save yourself. Apart from the grace of God, you are utterly doomed to stand before Him dead in your sin. Yes, you can go to church. You can have religious rituals performed for you. You can read your Bible. You can pray earnestly with great feeling. You can give your tithe in church and special offerings to help the poor. There are any number of things that you can do, that are very good works to do in the sight of your fellowman, but you can’t save yourself. All of these good works are fine and good, but in the end, when you stand before God, they can’t help you as far as your sin is concerned. God says, in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Thank God for His unspeakable Gift.

God the Father gave His Eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to be the way of salvation for hell deserving sinners that would believe in Him. John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Thank God that salvation is all of grace because if it was left up to you, you can’t save yourself. Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God…” How wonderful is that? You see, you don’t have to do anything to receive a gift. It is the prayer of the people that labored to bring you this little message that you might stand before God someday by the grace of God and be able to say, “I can’t save myself from my sin but you gave me Your only begotten Son and by faith I have Him as my Saviour.”

Although Christ had no sin of Himself, He went to the cross of Calvary and died there in the place of sinners like you. The Bible says that He took our sins upon Himself. He was indeed the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world. It would be wonderful if you would seek out the church that sent you this little message and attend there and learn more of the wonderful grace of God, but if nothing else, we pray that God would grant to you the grace you need to repent of your sin and by faith receive God’s great gift of salvation in His dear Son. AMEN.

How God Speaks Today

How God Speaks Today.

Psalm 19:1-14. (Pray)

We live in a day and time when much to do is made of new light, prophecies, visions, messages from god in dreams and unknown tongues and so on. All of the spine tingling experiences of the modern day charismatic and ecumenical movements are mostly just a bunch of religious hype. The Bible says God speaks through His word. 2Pet 1:20-21, Heb 1:1-2, Rev 22:18-19. When John wrote the last amen in Revelation, that was it. The revelation of God to man was complete. Beloved, THAT which is perfect has come. It is the 66 books of the Canon.

So, is God speaking today? To that question I answer with a resounding YES! Our text points out at least three ways in which God will always speak to mankind. Notice first:

1. The divine design of the universe declares His greatness.
2. Every 24hr period is a sermon for God.
3. Not a person on earth is untouched by creation.
4. Rom 1:18-20.

1. His law is perfect leads to salvation. 2Tim 3:15.
2. His testimony is sure gives wisdom. 2Tim 3:16-17.
3. His statutes are right give joy. Ps 33:1-4.
4. His commandments are pure give light. 2Cor 4:6.
5. His fear is clean everlasting reverence. Ps 119:89.
6. His judgments are true to be desired. Matt 5:6.

1. Of sin. All have sinned. Rom 3:23.
2. Of salvation. Only the blood of Jesus can cleanse. Heb 9:22.
3. Of service. In Christ, Gods way. Jn 14:23-24.

Conclusion: God is not speaking today from out of thunderbolts or other electrifying experiences. But He IS heard and felt by literally hundreds and thousands today who are willing to look to Him by faith. Can you hear Him today? His creation cries out Believe God! His canon cries out Christ died for our sins! His Comforter is calling repent and believe the gospel! AMEN

What if God had not spoken

Proverbs 29:18  Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Our text in Proverbs leaves no question about the importance of the ministry of the word.  The bible simply says that if there is no divine revelation from God, the people will die in their sins.  The word for “vision” in this verse is from the Hebrew word chaw-zone’and according to Strong; it literally means an oracle of divine prophecy.  Where there is no preaching of the divinely inspired word of God, people will be unrestrained in the depths of their depravity.  Thankfully, God has spoken.

Consider six things that we would not have if there were no Bibles in the land and if there were no people to lift up the truth in this world of lies that we live in.

    1. Conviction of sin comes by having the word in us. 1Jn.1:8-10.
    2. Conviction of sin comes by hearing the law of God.  1Jn.3:4.
    3. Conviction of sin comes when the word has a place in you.  Jn.8:34-37.
    4. Where there is no vision the people perish.
    1. Salvation comes only after the prophets told about it. 1Pet.1:9-10.
    2. Salvation comes from studying the Holy Scriptures.  2Tim.2:15.
    3. Salvation comes when the word of God is not bound. 2Tim.2:9-10.
    4. Where there is no vision the people perish.
    1. Faith comes by the ministry of the word of God.  Rom.10:17.
    2. Faith comes because of written visions from God. Hab.2:2-4. (The word faith is only found two times in the Old Testament.  Here and in Dt.32.)
    3. Faith comes only when God hides not His face from us.  Deut.32:20.
    4. Where there is no vision the people perish.
    1. Hope comes when we have the word of the Lord Ps. 130:5.
    2. Hope comes when there are commandments of God. Ezr.10:2-3.
    3. Hope comes from the promises of God.  Acts 24:14-15, 26:6-7.
    4. Where there is no vision the people perish.
    1. Peace comes to those that labour in the gospel.  Phil.4:3-7.
    2. Peace comes from wisdom that is from above. James 3:17-18.
    3. Peace comes when the word of Christ dwells in you.  Col.3:15-16.
    4. Where there is no vision the people perish.
    1. Comfort comes because of the promises of God in Christ. 2Cor.1:3, 20.
    2. Comfort comes because scripture was written before hand.  Rom.15:4.
    3. Comfort comes from the life giving word of God.  Ps.119:50.
    4. Where there is no vision the people perish.

CONCLUSION:  God is real and God has spoken.  God cannot lie.  God has said, “Where there is no vision the people perish.”  Hear ye the word of the Lord.  AMEN.
